Post-doc in Computational Modeling

Employer:  Drexel University
Job Number:  4015438
Date Posted:  01/13/2015
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

Job Description

Drexel University, School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems has an immediate opening for a post‐doctoral fellow to join a research group developing multiscale models of nitric oxide mechanisms in the microcirculation. The research group is currently working on a unique mathematical model to provide quantitative information regarding mechanisms governing nitric oxide activity in the microcirculation and using real‐time in vitro and in vivo experiments to validate the model. The postdoctoral
fellow is expected to focus on the development of the model and to help incorporate into the model experimental data provided by other members of the team.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field such as Math, biology, physics, biomedical engineering and bioengineering and should have a strong
background and interest in computational modeling. The applicant must have a foundation in advanced mathematics and numerical analysis, understanding of physiology and in particular the principles underlying the structure and transport in the circulation. Experience in technical computing is essential and background in 3‐D
software packages such as Comsol is desirable. The post‐doctoral fellow is expected to focus on the development of the model and to help integrate intracellular nitric oxide production and transport data with extracellular, vascular and tissue transport properties
under normal and pathological conditions.

Qualified candidates should email their CV, a summary of research experience, a statement of their qualification to join the research group and a list of at least 3 references with postal addresses, email addresses and telephone
numbers to: dov.jaron@drexel.edu

This position with the University is supported fully by external funds; therefore, this offer and the continuation of your employment are contingent on receipt of those external funds. Drexel University offers an attractive benefits package including tuition remission, a generous retirement package with matching funds (up to 11 percent) and an opportunity to join a talented team of professionals directly helping the University achieve its
