The University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Physics has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate position in condensed matter theory.

Duties:

The successful candidate will carry out computational research in electronic and magnetic properties of strongly correlated materials such as transition metal oxides in both bulk and nano-structured forms.

The successful candidate will use modern numerical methods including dynamical mean field theory and density functional theory, and also contribute to the analysis of numerical data, the implementation of necessary codes, and the writing of academic papers.

Qualifications:

Candidates are required to have a PhD degree in Physics, Material Science, or a related field by the time of the appointment.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in modern ab-initio codes and quantum many-body theory.

Strong backgrounds in condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, and statistical physics are also desired.
