Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) position starting July 1st, 2015 in Dr. Kamaljit Kaur’s Laboratory at Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP). The PDF will study bacteriocins (Antimicrobial Peptides) for development of therapeutics against pathogenic bacteria, and development of diagnostics for E. coli, Salmonella, etc. Candidate should have a solid background in chemistry, biochemistry, and bacterial cell culture techniques, strong communication skills, and an ability to work independently and collaborate effectively. The candidate must be highly motivated, and should have finished PhD no more than 12 months ago.

Dr. Kaur’s research focuses on two main areas: (i) Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs) and (ii) Cancer Targeting Peptides. Her research program in AMPs involves design, synthesis, and evaluation of AMPs or novel analogues for development of food preservatives, therapeutics and diagnostics. Her research program in “Cancer targeting peptides for drug delivery and diagnostics” involves engineering improved cancer targeting peptides for increased therapeutic efficacy of current chemotherapeutic drugs, and development of cancer imaging agents and diagnostics. Her lab will have access to state-of-the-art core facility at Chapman University School of Pharmacy, as well as nearby facilities at the University of California, Irvine.

Chapman University School of Pharmacy is located in Southern California (50 miles south of Los Angles International LAX Airport), in a beautiful brand new Health Sciences Campus in the city of Irvine.
