德国神经退行性疾病研究中心(DZNE)电生理学研究博士后职位招聘
文章来源:知识人整理       更新时间:2014年12月10日

Postdoctoral position / Head of in vivo electrophysiology unit (f/m) : München, Germany

The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes nine high-performing sites in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten.

We are looking for an experienced Postdoc to join our group at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Munich. We are offering projects involving electrophysiology and in vivo two-photon calcium imaging in order to identify new therapeutical strategies to treat synaptic dysfunction in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson`s disease.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson`s disease are the most common causes of dementia. We previously found evidence that the alteration of synaptic function is an early event in the disease (Fuhrmann et al. Nature Neurosci. 2010; Neuner at al. Nature Com. 2014. We aim to understand the loss of synaptic function in animal models of AD and PD by visualizing morphological and functional alterations of synapses in vivo and try to identify new drug targets at the synapse (Ochs et al. Mol. Psych. 2014, Filser et al. Biol. Psych. 2014 ).

We offer interesting research topics with biomedical relevance in a stimulating scientific environment at an internationally competitive level. The projects involve cutting-edge imaging techniques (in vivo two-photon microscopy, in vivo calcium imaging, optogenetics) and electrophysiology, the use of fluorescent reporters, viralvectors and various transgenic animal models. The Chair for Translational Brain Research is a leading in vivo imaging laboratory affiliated with the LMU, one of the top three German universities.

Requirements: Suitable applicants should have ample experience in slice or in vivo electrophysiology as well as the ability to perform creative and independent research. Additionally, applicants should possess technical knowledge and be experienced in the handling of rodents. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in physiology, neurobiology or related disciplines with a focus on neuroscience.

The position is available from the beginning of 2015, initially for 2 years, but with a strong intention to be extended for considerably longer time. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. The DZNE is an equal opportunity employer. The DZNE is committed to employing disabled individuals and especially encourages them to apply. Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TVöD). The job location is Munich, Germany.

Interested candidates should send their applications including a CV with publication list, a brief summary stating research interests and the names and contact information of two references to sonja.einhaus@dzne.de
