Postdoctoral Scholarship in Translational Cancer Research : Lund, Sweden

Announcement: Post doc scholarship in Translational Cancer Research

Scholarship
A postdoc position is open at the Translational Cancer Research at the Department of Laboratory Medicine Lund, Lund University, Sweden, in the group of Medical Molecular Biology under the supervision of Dr. Yvonne Ceder. Research in the group focuses on elucidating the role of microRNA in prostate cancer. This project will focus on the miRNA regulation of the progressions leading to metastasis, as the reversibility of this type of regulation present interference options that can be developed into novel therapeutic strategies. To elucidate if miRNAs regulate the different steps leading to the metastatic dissemination, in vivo functional screen using an anti-miRNA library will be performed, shedding of tumor cells to circulation, the phenotype of the circulating tumor cells, and the establishment of metastases are used as endpoints. Results are verified in vitro, in vivo and in patient material.

Qualifications required
Highly motivated candidates with a PhD in Life Sciences are encouraged to apply. We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record in molecular and/or cellular biology, evidenced by successful publishing in scientific journals. Experience of miRNA or ncRNA is an advantage. The project includes both in vitro and in vivo techniques as well as bioinformatics. The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills (English), and ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts.

The applicant should not have been employed by Lund University within the last two years in order to be able to receive a scholarship. PhD degree should not be more than three years old at the last day of applying.
