Post-doctoral Immunobilogists : Slough, United Kingdom

UCB aspires to be the patient-centric global biopharmaceutical leader transforming the lives of people living with severe diseases. We focus on central nervous system and immunology disorders. Our promise is to help tackle the serious unmet medical needs affecting patients around the globe. An important part of our philosophy is to take a holistic approach to patients, which aims to find solutions tailored to their circumstances. By taking into account patients’ individual characteristics and lifestyles, such as age, diet, family history and genetic profile, we are also coming closer to providing personalized therapies.

Post-doctoral Immunobilogists

Due to significant growth we now need to recruit high quality PhD level immunobiologists with positions available in the Cellular Sciences and in vivo Pharmacology Teams. You will be required to bring your knowledge and skills to bear in understanding the complex biological systems surrounding novel targets associated primarily with inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and to build influential external collaborative networks. These are laboratory based positions where the successful individuals will be expected to provide scientific leadership from the bench and drive projects at the technical and strategic levels in addition to supervising and mentoring less experienced team members.

For the position in Cellular Sciences, expertise in complex, primary cell co-culture assay systems and immune cell based assays allied with experience in a variety of techniques such as flow cytometry, imaging methods and multiplexed assay read-outs are key attributes.

For the position in Pharmacology, in addition to the above mentioned skills you will require a Home Office license (for UK based candidates) as well as expertise in in vivo mechanistic immunology and/or disease models. Responsibilities typically range from target validation, functional characterisation of therapeutic candidate molecules, both antibody and small molecule, translational biology activities and biomarker identification and validation.

For both roles the ideal candidates should have a proven track record in research and the ability to be team players with excellent interpersonal skills who enjoy working in multi-disciplinary project teams across a variety of departments. Excellent communication skills are also required. Successful candidates will have ample opportunities to develop their drug development skills and gain experience in the pre-clinical to early clinical development arena in a simulating and challenging environment.
