Job description: A research associate/postdoctoral position is available in the Eye Research Institute (ERI) of Oakland University, in the field of photoreceptor cell biology and neurodegenerative retinal disease. The successful applicant will apply a wide variety of in vitro, cultured cell, and in vivo approaches to investigate the fundamental molecular architecture of vertebrate rod and cone photoreceptors and the etiology of inherited eye diseases.

Qualifications and Experience: The candidate should have a Ph.D. in cell/molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related discipline, and be a current US resident fluent in English.

Experience developing and applying current methods in protein biochemistry/biophysics or cell/molecular biology is required, as is a track record that includes use of murine models. Proficiency designing and performing immunochemical analyses of cultured cells and tissues, including: immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, and immunoprecipitation is advantageous, as is expertise in confocal microscopy.
