摘要:

The Department of Energy and Environment excels in research and education related to energy, environment and sustainable development ranging from a global perspective to industrial, building and product issues. The focus is on experimental and theoretical research on energy technology as well as on development, use and evaluation of methods and tools for analysis of technical systems. In total around 200 persons are active at the six divisions of the department.

This post doc position is part of the currently launched initiative “Energy on Campus” by Chalmers Area of Advance. The purpose of the initiative is to concretize and visualize Chalmers' vision "Chalmers – For a sustainable future" by using the buildings and infrastructure of the campus as an open arena for energy solutions in an urban environment. The program forms an umbrella under which new campus projects can be initiated and developed.

Information about the division and the project

The division of building services engineering

The well-being of humans is highly influenced by the long time spend indoors at home or at our working place. The task of building services engineering is to secure and maintain a good indoor environment and is thus of major importance for human health. The department of building services engineering is focusing on research on systems for and control of ventilation, heating, cooling and lightning. The aim and goal of the division activities is to develop and promote system solutions that provide a good indoor environment with as little negative environmental impact as possible.

The post-doc project

An electric bus line between the two campus of Chalmers will come into public use during 2015. The electric bus will be charged in both ends of the line and one of the bus stops will be located indoors. This indoor bus stop will also include customer services such as cafeterias and shops. The common knowledge and experince of such public space is limited both from an human comfort and energy use perspective. The aim of this post doc project main is on gathering more general experience and knowledge from operation of this pilot indoor bus stop to be used in future constructions. The main focus is on testing the use of feed-forward control of air conditioning components in combination with information exchange with the arrival bus. The goal is to find out means to maintain a good indoor climate and reduce the total energy use. The project will be carried out in form of simulations in combination with verifying measurement.

Major responsibilities
The major responsibility of the position is to plan, administrate and carrying out a research project in cooperation with a research group of internal and external staff. Planning and financing of an interconected PhD-project is also in progress. A positive outcome of this means that supervision of a PhD-student will be part of the post-doc position.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).

Qualifications
Besides advanced knowledge and experience on HVAC technics and control, building physics and materials the candidate need to be able to work both independent and in cooperation with others to be successful. The candidate should take on the responsibility of carrying out the actual research project but also take part of all other daily activities in the division.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field; the degree should generally not be older than three years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
