摘要:
The Paul Drude Institute (PDI) performs basic research as a lively symbiosis of materials science and solid state physics. Our research aims at inspiring and demonstrating new functionalities for future information technologies. As a member of the Leibniz Gemeinschaft and Forschungsverbund Berlin we are an independent research institute with about 100 employees. We collaborate with all three universities in Berlin. We are located in the very heart of the city near Gendarmenmarkt. You may find more details at www.pdi-berlin.de.

Description

The PDI has a long-standing expertise in the growth and analysis of III-V semiconductor layers. For several years we have been extending these activities to nanowires. A large part of this research is directed at the fabrication and investigation of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on (In,Ga)N/GaN nanowire heterostructures grown on Si. Our goal is to establish for such LEDs functionality not attainable by their planar counterparts. In this framework, we are seeking a postdoc for the TEM investigation of both nanowire and planar III-N heterostructures. You will work closely together with both internal and external collaborators who focus on growth, optical spectroscopy, and the modelling of electronic structure. The work is part of a project between academic and industrial partners that is funded by the European Commission. You should have a PhD in physics, materials science, chemistry, or a related field. Experiences with TEM methods are required. We are looking for a postdoc who enjoys working in a highly motivated team of researchers and technicians. The position is available from Jan. 1, 2015 and its duration is presently limited to two years. Payment is according to TVöD (Treaty for German public service). PDI is pursuing a gender equality policy. Women are therefore particularly encouraged to apply. Among equally qualified applicants preference will be given to disabled candidates. Please submit your application via email by December 10, 2014 to jobs@pdi-berlin.de - use reference PD TEM For information about the project contact Dr. Achim Trampert, trampert@pdi-berlin.de, +49 30 20377-280
