The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).

Do you love doing experiments but don’t want to be a group leader?

The Furlong lab is looking for a research scientist that has great hands and loves to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. The position involves contributing to different projects in the group and also, potentially, leading your own project. Excellent molecular biology expertise is essential. Experience with Drosophila genetics and embryos is an advantage, but not essential. The work incorporates subcloning, next generation sequencing, chromatin immunoprecipitation, expression profiling analysis and other genomic techniques, as well as new method development. The person should be able to work independently, be highly motivated and very well- organized.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have an appropriate university degree in biological sciences. Candidates should have extensive experience in molecular biology. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work as part of an international team are required. Fluency in English is essential.
