In relation to the group project “Posthuman Aesthetics”, financed by the Danish Research Council, a postdoc fellowship is vacant. The project, involving two senior researchers, a PhD student and two postdocs, aims to give aesthetics a more prominent role in understanding the posthuman field with regard to the technological enhancement of the body. Analysing art, literature and popular culture through three central themes – evolution as grand narrative, creativity with suspended purpose, and imperfect enhancement – the project encompasses biological emergence, heroes in popular culture, imperfect narratives in literature, and the cyborg from Dada to functionalism.

The vacant position relates to the project’s thematic frame of posthuman aesthetics, focusing preferably on the intersection between visual art, science and technology. The application should specify how the postdoc project will relate and contribute to the collective thematic frame. There are no teaching obligations, but the successful applicant is expected to participate in the group’s regular meetings and other activities, including two conferences, a lecture series and communication activities for a broader audience.

Applicants must have a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications in a field relevant to the research area described above. Applicants should have experience of investigations relating to the field of art/science/technology, as well as being interested in collaborative, interdisciplinary work. The application must be submitted in English.
