摘要:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Computational Biology junior group at HITS as a Postdoc (m/f) as soon as possible.

HITS gGmbH is a private non-profit research institute carrying out multidisciplinary research in the computational sciences. It receives its base funding from the HITS Foundation.

The Computational Biology junior group is an interdisciplinary research group that focuses on the development and application of algorithmic approaches to problems in genome biology, especially on sequencing data analysis and de novo assembly. A strong emphasis is placed on computer science and discrete mathematics and their application to problems in the reconstruction of a genome’s sequence from noisy long-read datasets. This work is carried out in close collaboration with Gene Myers, one of the pioneers in the field of genome assembly.

Requirements:

  • PhD in mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics or a related discipline
  • Strong algorithmic background
  • Experience with algorithms based on strings, tree and graphs
  • C programming experience

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in genome assembly and genome biology
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python)
  • Experience in dealing with large datasets
  • Good command of parallelization techniques

The research topics will encompass algorithm development for genome assembly, and will be adapted to the particular strengths and interests of the candidate.

To apply, please enter your application, consisting of a full CV, a publication list, and a statement of research interests at https://application.h-its.org/intern/register.php?id=25cttp2 (reference CBI HITS-07-2014). You will also be asked to supply the contact details of three referees who are willing to send a letter of recommendation on the applicant’s behalf.
