One PhD student position and one Postdoc position open for optical imaging in the Drexler Lab

Description

One PhD student position and one postdoc position are open now in the Drexler Lab. As a world known group in biomedical optical imaging for optical coherence tomography (OCT), we are now pushing the frontiers of OCT by combining it with multiple photoacoustic imaging modalities. Our combined OCT/photoacoustic tomography (PAT) system has been applied in both animal and clinical studies. Our combined ultrahigh resolution OCT/photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) system is capable of imaging single cells. Our extensive collaborations with both academic and industrial partners enable us to also investigate and test novel and unique devices in both OCT and photoacoustics for technological advances. In addition to the convenience of recruiting animal and human samples being in a medical university, our center also has a well-equipped mechanical workshop for manufacturing customized designs and 3D printing. Both positions are for our OCT/photoacoustic system development and application. The exact project you will be involved in will be decided based on your past experiences and your preference. Requirements: PhD student position: applicants must have a master degree to enroll in the PhD program of the university whose working language is English. The applicants are expected to have earned the degree in either electrical and computer engineering, biomedical engineering, optical engineering or applied physics. Knowledge in optical alignment, control application programing (e.g. LabVIEW), image processing programming (e.g. MATLAB), CAD (e.g. Solid Edge) and small animal handling is a bonus. The PhD program is for 3 years and you are expected to have at least one first author paper in a well-recognized journal before graduation. Postdoc position: applicants must have received his PhD degree in the past 5 years. Previous experiences in imaging systems are mandatory, preferably in photoacoustics and optical coherence tomography. The applicant must have at least three first author journal publications in imaging related topics in the past 5 years or a combined impact factor (meaning adding the impact factors of the journals where your first author papers are published) of above 10 in the past 5 years.
