The Center for Science and Technology of Valparaíso, in Valparaíso, Chile,  invites applications for postdoctoral research fellowships in one of the areas of our current scientific activity. We are seeking candidates of  demonstrated excellence, talent, and promise who are eager to expand their horizons. We plan to add up to four  positions in theory and phenomenology or experimental particle physics. Our physics program is broad, spanning studies in QCD, neutrinos and other electroweak topics, physics beyond the standard model, and gravity. Our experimental group works in four collaborations: ATLAS at the CERN LHC, CLAS and GlueX at Jefferson Lab, and MINERvA at Fermilab. We also collaborate on R&D projects with Brookhaven National Lab.

Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Valparaíso, is a top university in Chile, with an institutional focus on the science and engineering  disciplines. It has the largest high energy physics group in the country, with more than a dozen senior researchers, half a dozen postdoctoral researchers, and numerous students and visitors. Collaborative research is conducted with groups in the Electronics Engineering Department and in the Informatics (Computing) Department via the Valparaíso Center for Science and Technology, a National Center of Excellence hosted at the university.

The Valparaíso campus of the university is located on picturesque Cerro Placeres overlooking the historic Valparaíso harbor. Nearby attractions include the beach resort town of Viña del Mar and the colorful and diverse city of Valparaíso. Chile is renowned for its natural beauty and variety of terrain, from the world's driest desert in the North to the verdant South, extending into Patagonia.

The opening of these positions is subject to the availability of funds; the duration is two years, with the possibility of a renewal for an additional period. Applicants for this position should have a PhD in particle physics or a PhD in a related field and the equivalent combination of training and experience. In addition to exceptional leadership abilities, the applicant must also have the potential to develop into an outstanding teacher at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
