This is an opportunity to join the Nutrition team at the Charles Perkins Centre (School of Molecular Bioscience and School of Biological Science) that has a strong and well-resourced nutrition and dietetics program, and a team of leading academics in the field. You will work closely with Professor David Raubenheimer and Dr Anna Rangan

You will be located in the new state-of-the-art $500 million Charles Perkins Centre that has a mission to ease the burden of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease and integrates research across the University whilst committed to improving health outcomes, not just in Australia but worldwide.

Funded by Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) this project will utilise the Australian Health Survey 2011-12 which provides the most up-to-date data on dietary intake and markers of health in the Australian population. The findings will build on consumer insights around meal preparation and choices in home and when eating out. The outcome will inform the development of communications and resources on healthy eating to help Australians achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

In this role you will:

  • be responsible for analyses of dietary intake data
  • contribute to the interpretation of results
  • contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • a PhD in nutrition, dietetics, epidemiology, biostatistics or similar discipline
  • peer-reviewed publications in the fields of nutrition and/or dietetics
  • established quantitative research skills in nutrition epidemiology
  • strong data management skills with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team
  • strong organisational skills and ability to adhere to timelines
  • experience in analysis of dietary intake data from large datasets
  • experience in SPSS, SAS or STATA
  • excellent written and oral communication skills together with experience in writing original research and review articles
  • experience in preparing and delivering research presentations (ie oral and poster format).

Highly regarded will be experience using: dietary assessment tools and dietary analysis software packages.

Remuneration package: $98K p.a. including a base salary Level A6, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. Some relocation support and visa sponsorship may be available if required.

The position is full-time fixed term for two years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
