摘要:
• Are you passionate about a career in Science?
• Launch your research career at CSIRO – Australian Science, Australia's Future!
• Targeted postdoctoral training program

The position:

We are currently seeing a motivated, self driven Postdoctoral Fellow to be part of the Australian Biological Resources Study to revise the taxonomy of the soldier fly (Diptera: Stratiomyiidae) fauna of Australia. This research will involve constructing a phylogeny of the family using molecular and morphological data and preparing a generic revision of the Australian fauna.

Specifically you will:
• Use next generation sequencing and phylogenomic techniques, construct a robust molecular phylogeny of the soldier flies (Stratiomyidae) with ethanol preserved material, and prepare this for publication;
• Use material in collections, freshly collected material, and the results of the molecular analyses, establish generic limits in the Australian fauna;
• Prepare for publication a generic revision of the Australian soldier flies based on a systematic study of the fauna, and a knowledge of the world fauna;
• Develop innovative concepts and ideas for further research;
• Regularly review relevant literature;
• Contribute to the effective functioning of the research team and help deliver upon CSIRO’s organisational objectives.

Location: Australian National Insect Collection, Black Mountain, Canberra, ACT
Salary: $78K to $88K p.a. plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: 3 year term
Ref No.: ACT14/02880

To be considered you will hold a PhD, or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD, in insect systematics or a relevant discipline area.

You will also have:
• Demonstrated ability to conduct systematic research on Diptera and publish the results;
• Demonstrated ability to generate, analyse and interperet molecular data for phylogeny;
• Demonstrated ability to assemble, analyse and interperet morphological data for phylogeny;
• Knowledge of soldier fly taxonomy and systematics;
• Demonstrated originality, creativity and innovation in solving problems and introducing new directions and approaches. With the ability to work independently under minimal supervision while contributing to overall team performance and proven ability to meet performance deadlines during the course of the project.

Owing to terms of the fellowship, candidates must not have more than 3 years of relevant Postdoctoral experience.
