The UCD ENERGY21 Fellowship Programme, co-financed by the University College Dublin (UCD) and the Marie Curie COFUND Action of the European Commission, offers 6 two-year Fellowships for outstanding postdoctoral researchers in the broad area of Energy Systems Integration to conduct their own research project at the UCD Energy Institute, Dublin, Ireland. The Programme aims to provide the researchers with a research training experience of highest international standards that will help them to advance their scientific careers within a chosen sector, across academia, industry or public sector. It offers an attractive and supporting working environment at the UCD Energy Institute and high quality tailored-made training in areas related to the research topic and transferrable skills. All Fellowships include an outgoing phase to another research institution that can be carried out in any country in the world. Deadline for applications: 30th September 2014, 23.30 (UTC + 1 hour)

Description

Research Fields Applicants are required to submit a research project proposal in the broad area of Energy Systems Integration, including the following topics: • Finance, regulation and policy • Modelling • Consumer behaviour • Resources • Built environment • Data, sensors and security • Water • Electricity • Gas • Optimisation • Forecasting • Distributed energy systems • Energy systems technology Fellowship Schemes and eligibility criteria The Programme offers three types of Fellowships: Incoming: Fellow Level 1 Incoming candidates with 0-3 years post PhD experience Incoming: Fellow Level 2 Incoming candidates with 3+ years post PhD experience Both Fellowships are open to candidates of any nationality, who at the time of the deadline for submission of proposals, reside outside Ireland and over the previous three years, have worked outside of Ireland for at least 24 months. Reintegration: Fellow Level 3 Researchers of Irish nationality who hold a doctoral degree and have carried out research in another Third Country for at least 4 years in the last 6 years at the time of the deadline for submission of proposals. All applicants must, at the time of the deadline for submission of proposals, be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. Salary and allowances • Salary in a region of €42,065 to €65,010, depending on the type of the Fellowship • Annual contribution to research costs of €17,000 • Annual mobility allowance of €9,210
