A position of postdoctoral fellow/visiting scholar is available at the Division of Population Science, Department of Medical Oncology in the Kimmel Cancer Center at the Thomas Jefferson University, located in the Center City and surrounded by the beauty of historic Philadelphia. The Kimmel Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center, which is ranked #27 in the Nation by the 2014 US News and Reports.

An ongoing focus of the research in our lab is to integrate the increasing knowledge of biological mechanisms of cancer development and progression with current interdisciplinary strategies to develop reliable cancer risk and prognosis assessment models. Successful applicant will have great opportunities to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists, behavioral scientists, basic scientists, statistical geneticists, and physicians, and to develop multidisciplinary knowledge and techniques in molecular and cellular biology, epidemiology, statistics, genetics, genomics, and cancer medicine. The access to a large collection of biospecimens from a number of cancer types in our lab and through our national and international collaborators will greatly facilitate the realization of promising novel ideas in the fields of cancer risk assessment, prevention, early detection, informed decision, and individualized intervention.

We seek highly motivated individuals who have a PhD degree or equivalent. This position is supported by funding from the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society. Strong experiences in either basic scientific research or epidemiology /statistics are desired.
