Applications are invited for a position at Paris Observatory devoted to scientific analysis and software development in relation to the data validation for the Gaia astronomical satellite.

Job function: scientific and technical analysis, java and database software development, definition of scientific specifications, implementation, tests.

Professional Qualifications: beside the competences in astronomy, software engineering, development in Java (or equiv.) under Linux, data analysis techniques, databases, technical english, relational aptitudes.

Formation required: The candidate must have either a PhD degree or more than 3 years of research/training in astrophysics since obtaining a degree that gives access to doctoral studies (engineer+experience).
