Molecular Biologist: magnetic fields and polarized light sensing in the retina of migratory birds
We are currently offering a postdoctoral positions (E13) starting at the 1st of November 2014. We are looking for an experienced molecular biologist/protein biochemist with experience in investigating protein-protein interactions in particular using the two-yeast-hybrid system. The position will be filled first for 1 year, but we aim for a possible prolongation for up to 5 years. The position is an integrated part of an AFOSR funded joint research project on light-dependent magnetic sensing between the University of Oldenburg and the University of Oxford. (see e.g. Nature 509: 353-356; Nature 461: 1274-1277; Curr. Opin. Neurobiol. 22, 343-352).
The candidate must have a university degree (e.g. Master or diploma) and doctorate degree in natural sciences and must be fluent in English. The successful candidate should have a broad experience in molecular biology and/or genetic techniques. It will be necessary to establish a yeast-two-hybrid screening system during the starting phase of the project. The candidate should be dedicated to scientific achievement and able to move to Oldenburg.
Our groups are located at the Carl von Ossietzky University, Germany and are parts of several collaborative centres of excellence both nationally and internationally. You will become part of a larger team working closely together on related questions. For more information about our groups, see http://www.member.uni-oldenburg.de/henrik.mouritsen/ and http://www.biochemie.uni-oldenburg.de/.
The Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg is an equal opportunity employer aiming to increase the proportion of female academic staff members. Therefore, we especially encourage women to apply. Applicants with disabilities will be given preference if equally qualified.

If this sounds interesting to you please send your application preferred as a single pdf-file to karl.w.koch@uni-oldenburg.de by mail to Prof. Dr. Karl-Wilhelm Koch, Faculty VI, Biochemistry group, Carl-von-Ossietzky-Str. 9-11, D-26129 Oldenburg, Germany. We will look at the applications in the order they arrive, and we will consider all applications received until the positions are filled. All applications arriving no later than August 31st will certainly be considered….
