Research Associate in Bioinformatics

King's College London

A Research Associate post is available, in the Department of Medical & Molecular Genetics, within the Division of Genetics & Molecular Medicine, to work as part of a multi-disciplinary international team of researchers working on MRC funded translational medicine projects focused on human ageing. Based in London the successful applicant will collaborate with other informatics and disease specialist researchers including clinical colleagues at the Karolinska Institute on this MRC funded project. The clinical phase of the project is completed and we have generated large-scale exon-based transcriptomic and developed novel classification models for human tissue ageing. The applicant will develop and apply strategies for optimisation of these prototypes and work closely with a post-doc cell-biologist to direct RNAi based manipulation of the ageing transcriptional signatures. Applicants must have a PhD in computational biology and experience in gene-chip bioinformatics and/or mathematical biology. Highly skilled and motivated, you must have a strong interest in developing novel or applying analysis methodology to develop the next generation of personalized medicine diagnostics and prognostics. Previous programming experience with R is essential and ideally also PERL or Python.

Applicants should have expertise in the manipulation of large multivariate genomic datasets and experience working with databases. This full time post is based at King’s College London until 31st July 2016.

The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications, within the Grade 6, currently £31,644 to £33,562 per annum, plus £2,323 London Allowance per annum
