摘要:

Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology : Singapore, Singapore

Description:
A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of bioinformatics and computational biology is available in the Loo lab (http://web.bii.a-star.edu.sg/~loolh) at the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, Singapore. The successful candidate will study the roles of protein subcellular localization in determining complex protein functions and cellular responses to drugs. The work will involve computational analysis of microscopy images, gene expression profiles, protein-protein interaction datasets, and gene ontology annotations. Our lab has previously developed the Protein Localization Analysis and Search Tools (PLAST) (http://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pcbi.1003504) and the “cellXpress” software platform (http://doi.org/10.1186/1471-2105-14-S16-S4). The candidate will have the opportunity to do cutting-edge research in computational biology, and work in a highly interdisciplinary and stimulating environment.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a strong quantitative background, with a Ph.D. in computer science, electrical or computer engineering, bioengineering, computational biology, biophysics, or other related fields. Candidates with interdisciplinary training in biology and computing are especially encouraged to apply. Strong knowledge in machine learning, data mining, statistics, and programming are required. Previous experience in biology or image processing is desired, but not required. Candidates must also possess good communication skills, and be fluent in both spoken and written English.

Contact Information:
Applicants should send

  • a one-page cover letter briefly describing prior research experience and accomplishments,
  • a one-page statement of research interests,
  • CV,
  • contact information of two references, and
  • reprints of one to two publications
