摘要:
Postdoctoral associate positions are available for motivated and creative individuals in the laboratory of Adam Williams, Ph.D. at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut.

Asthma is an allergic disease of the airways that has reached epidemic proportions. Although it is widely accepted that asthma is caused by a dysregulated immune response we do not understand why or how this happens; this lack of understanding is a major stumbling block in the generation of new therapies for the prevention and treatment of asthma. Through the use of both human and mouse systems my lab will explore the potential role of the non-coding RNAs in the development of asthma and will seek to identify novel targets for therapeutic intervention.

The long-term goals of the laboratory are:
1. Identify non-coding RNAs important in regulating immune function in health and disease.
2. Define mechanisms of non-coding RNA function.
3. Identify targets for therapeutic intervention.

To accomplish these goals, we will use state-of-the-art high-throughput sequencing methodologies and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technologies.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have strong laboratory and analytical skills, significant experience in molecular/cellular immunology, and good communication and organizational skills.

The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Connecticut, is a new institute dedicated to employing genomics to improve human health in a collaborative effort between The Jackson Laboratory for Mammalian Genetics, based in Bar Harbor, Maine, and the state of Connecticut. The Jackson Laboratory, established in 1929, is a non-profit independent research institution with a proud history of innovative biomedical research. The laboratory is driving progress in the new era of genomic medicine with the development of its new institute,The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, as part of a $1.1 billion new venture. The new institute is based in Farmington, Connecticut in the Hartford metropolitan area and provides a unique environment for inter-disciplinary and multi-cultural interactions. Hartford is a lively metropolitan area and is within a two-hour drive to both Boston and New York City. Successful candidates will be working on the Connecticut campus, with potential to visit the Bar Harbor, Maine campus for collaborations and training.
