Swiss Paraplegic Research

Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF) is an affiliate of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation. The mission of SPF is sustainably improving the situation of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) through clinical and interdisciplinary research on a national and international level. Specific areas of its comprehensive research include functioning, social integration, equality of opportunity, self-determination, quality of life, as well as morbidity and mortality. The main research platform of SPF is the Swiss Spinal Cord Injury Cohort Study (SwiSCI). SwiSCI specifically aims to provide reliable epidemiological data about SCI in Switzerland to various stakeholders, including researchers, service providers and policy makers.

To complement the team of the SwiSCI Study Center, we are presently looking for a Postdoc in Biostatistics/Epidemiology

The ideal candidate is able to provide advanced support in the epidemiological and biostatistical analysis including tech­niques such as structural equation modelling and psychometric analysis (Rasch). The position requires the coordination and the involvement in the development of the SwiSCI research agenda and publication strategy. The successful appli­cant will work with an international and multidisciplinary team of researchers involved in the SwiSCI study.

Requirements:

  • PhD
  • Background in Biostatistics or Epidemiology or Public Health/Health Sciences
  • 2-3 years professional experience required; preferable in a health related/epidemiological context
  • Excellence in application of statistical software package (preferable STATA or R)
  • Excellent English and German language skills
  • Experience in demographic modelling are an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team

Typical tasks include:

  • Statistical data analysis (including longitudinal and hierarchical models; meta-analysis)
  • General statistical support for the team
  • Coordination of the SwiSCI research agenda
  • Lead or contribution to publications of SwiSCI studies

The position is for 3 years with the possibility of extension.
