Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of gas-solid and gas-liquid systems : Zurich, Switzerland

A postdoc is sought to participate in a research project “MRI technology and discrete particle models for studying gas-solid granular systems” supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The primary objective of this project is to provide a substantial boost in MRI performance for studies of gas-liquid and gas-solid systems. An overall gain in imaging speed by an order of magnitude or more is anticipated by applying advanced MRI techniques with respect to sequence design and hardware setup, e.g. parallel detection with large receiver arrays. The research will be undertaken in the groups of Profs. Klaas Prüssmann (D-ITET) and Christoph Müller (D-MAVT). Applicants for this position are expected to have hands-on experience in magnetic resonance imaging and successfully obtained a Ph.D. We are looking for highly motivated, committed, and creative individuals, able to work in a team and with good communication skills. Working in a top-level research environment with an advanced laboratory infrastructure, the candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop further their research abilities.
