摘要:

TheMIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center seeks a postdoctoral associate to work in the area of experimental plasma physics and fusion energy research. The research focuses on the area of turbulence and transport, with strong emphasis on mm-wave diagnostics (radiometry and reflectometry) and transport-model validation. Will design and lead experiments at ASDEX Upgrade and Alcator C-Mod and other tokamaks and contribute to validation efforts that are an ongoing research thrust in the PSFC program. Will also be expected to make original research contributions to the PSFC program, produce work for publication, and present work at scientific conferences.

REQUIREMENTS: a Ph.D. (or its equivalent) in plasma physics or closely related science and engineering discipline at the time of appointment. Must have significant experience using nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations to model tokamak experiments; developing and applying synthetic diagnostics to allow for direct comparisons between simulation and experiment; and working on the development, operation, and data analysis of core fluctuation measurements and/or profile measurements. Experience with ECE profile/fluctuation and/or reflectometer profile/fluctuation measurements is desirable. Must display outstanding scientific research ability, excellent communication skills, and the willingness to work in a large team alongside undergraduate and graduate students and project scientists.

This position will be full-time at the Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) in Garching, Germany.
