CSIRO Plant Industry (CPI) is offering a Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct a research project based on field and glasshouse studies. The Postdoctoral Fellow will focus on examining host plant resistance traits in cotton to a range of insect pests, particularly mites and whitefly. The project will aim to:

•Conduct field and greenhouse studies to screen cotton accessions for host plant resistance traits
•Understand the biochemical mechanisms of whitefly resistance in the diploid cottons to assist in breeding resistant lines;
•Screen backcross breeding lines for resistance to whitefly to enable introgression of SLW resistance traits into G. Hirsutum;
•Further understand the mechanisms of mite-resistance at both the molecular and biochemical level to expedite identification and selection of resistant breeding lines;
•Produce backcross breeding populations and screen for mite-resistance to introgress mite resistance traits into G. Hirsutum.
