The Powertrain and Vehicle Research Centre (PVRC) conducts theoretical, experimental and analytical research into powertrain systems. We are seeking a post-doctoral Research Associate to join our team and lead experimental and modelling work into the joint behaviour of turbochargers and internal combustion engines as part of a collaborative project with two industrial partners. This project aims to improve the simulation and development methods for the next generations of downsized engines.

This is exciting opportunity to join a growing research team and the Research Associate will be based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University but will be expected to interact closely with industrial engineers. The successful candidate will be responsible coordinating experimental activities over three test facilities (Gas stand and two engine test stands) and for conducting simulation work in 1D or 3D simulation suites.

Candidates should hold or be very near to completion of a PhD in an Engineering discipline, or have have proven and related industrial experience at an appropriate level. Experience in the simulation or experimentation of turbomachinery or internal combustion engines would be an advantage.

Candidates should be self-motivated and possess project management and technical communication skills.This post is being offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis until 31 March 2017.
