A research assistant position is available in the Division of Hypertension and Vascular Research, Department of Medicine, Henry Ford Health System, Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan.

This position requires a cardiovascular research lab experience of 2-4 yrs with a college degree or masters/PhD in physiology, pharmacy/pharmacology, cell biology, biochemistry or other relevant biomedical subject. The primary focus of the lab is to understand the pathogenesis of heart failure after diabetes, myocardial infarction and hypertension and further to validate or find novel therapeutic targets and agents for cardiovascular diseases. We also will study the role of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) and protein kinase C (PKC) isozymes in oxidative stress-induced pathogenesis in cardiac diseases. The projects employ techniques that include whole animal physiology, cell culture studies, and molecular biology and biochemical techniques. Candidates who worked with animal models of heart failure or diabetic cardiomyopathy, metabolic syndromes, type-1 and type-2 diabetes models pertaining to cardiovascular complications are very well desired for the position.
