We are seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher with experience in molecular and cellular biology and interested in the study of autophagy and its physiological and pathological implications. Some experience with mouse models is desirable. The intention is to apply for one of the Marie Curie Research Fellowships that have been recently advertised. Applicants should not have worked in Spain for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
Description
We have recently discovered that the transmembrane molecule TMEM59 induces an unconventional autophagic process involving single membrane vesicles and direct engagement of Atg16L1 (Boada-Romero et al. 2013. EMBOJ, 32:566). The proposed research project involves studying the physiological implications of this function and also searching for other molecules that may engage a similar autophagic mechanism.
