英国洛桑实验站招收从事GIS/作物生产建模工作的博士后

GIS/CROP PRODUCTION MODELLER

Rothamsted Research, the UK’s leading agricultural research centre, is seeking a mathematical modeller with experience in crop production and/or environmental systems, who is motivated to research the opportunities for biorenewables. This post-doctoral position is funded by the EPSRC through its programme “Bioenergy Challenge” within the ‘Supergen’ programme and is located in the Modelling Bioenergy Systems group in the Department of Sustainable Soils and Grassland Systems. 

The successful candidate will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team using a whole systems approach to optimise the Bioenergy Value Chain. The team is led by the Centre of Process System Engineering at Imperial College London. Rothamsted’s contribution will be pivotal to the implementation and deployment scenarios of bioenergy, balancing the objectives of food and energy security and global change. 

The post holder will adapt generic models for arable and perennial cropping systems to estimate future feedstock availability for the UK’s bioenergy industry and its environmental impact, and generate a spatially explicit (GIS) database. This position also offers opportunities to interact with industry and policy making in terms of resourcing and balancing ecosystem services.
