Post-doctoral position in Centre for Research in Inflammatory Diseases : Ribeirao Preto, Brazil

Postdoctoral Position– FAPESP

The Laboratory of Microbial Pathogenesis and Innate Immunity, leaded by Dr. Dario S. Zamboni, is seeking for a highly motivated Post-doctoral individual. The Laboratory is part of the Center for Research on Inflammatory Diseases (CRID/FAPESP) and is located in the Department of Cell Biology and Microbial Pathogenesis, Ribeirao Preto Medical School from the University of Sao Paulo (FMRP-USP), Ribeirao Preto, Brazil. Sao Paulo Research Foundation – FAPESP, funds the fellowship and the Laboratory. Successfully applicants can be funded for up to 4 years.
Applicants must be exceptionally motivated, innovative, that should be able to work independently and with a collaborative team setting. The ideal candidate must have a PhD degree and background in the fields of Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Infectious Diseases. Prior experience in techniques such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, RNAi and/or RNAseq is highly recommended.
Applicants should submit the application by 08/07/2014 (including a cover letter, CV and 2 recommendation letters) to Dr. Dario S. Zamboni: dszamboni@fmrp.usp.br

Abstract
Inflammatory and infectious diseases are a complex and heterogeneous group of diseases that affect more than 10% of the world population. The current options for treating inflammatory diseases are still limited and in some cases ineffective due to limited understanding of their underlying mechanisms. The Center for Research on Inflammatory Diseases (CRID) performs integrative and translational research to generate scientific knowledge and to identify new therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases. The overall objective of the CRID is to identify, validate and target novel biological pathways involved in inflammatory processes. The specific goal of the Center will be to advance the pathophysiological understanding of inflammatory diseases including infectious diseases. The general goal of the CRID is to identify, validate and target specific processes related to inflammatory diseases. The post-doctoral fellow may be familiar with techniques including Cellular and Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and may dedicate his/her efforts to identify novel genes and signaling pathways involved in host cell signaling in response to host cell infection with intracellular pathogens.
