Summary:
Van Andel Research Institute’s Laboratory for Tumor Microenvrionment and Metastasis has a position available for one Postdoctoral Fellow.

 

The Laboratory for Tumor Microenvironment and Metastases is committed to understanding the role of tumor microenvironments effect on cancer metastases, with the ultimate goal of developing early diagnosis and treatment strategies for breast and prostate cancer bone metastases.

 

This postdoctoral position is available immediately for a highly motivated Ph.D. graduate with the appropriate experience and track record in the fields of cancer and bone biology, with solid knowledge and research experience in molecular biology, immunology and histopathology. Hand on work with animal models in human disease is a must. He/she will be expected to develop future funding projects.

 

Functions:
Van Andel Research Institute (VARI) provides postdoctoral training opportunities to scientists beginning their research careers. The fellowships are to help promising scientists advance their knowledge and research experience and at the same time support the research endeavors of VARI under the mentorship of a VARI Faculty member. Postdoctoral fellows are appointed for a limited period of time, usually three years but no more than five years.

 

While this project is currently funded, an integral part of postdoctoral training is the process of preparing a research proposal and writing a fellowship application. All VARI Postdoctoral Fellows are encouraged to apply for external funding as soon as it is practical and reasonable after hire. Receiving a fellowship award provides recognition for both the fellow and VARI.

 

A successful candidate is a motivated and enthusiastic scientist who enjoys working in a fast-paced collaborative laboratory environment. He or she must be able to prioritize and exhibit exceptional research productivity.

 

Qualifications:
 A Ph.D. graduate with experience and publications in the fields of cancer and bone biology, immunology or a related discipline.
 Successfully presented a recruitment seminar and provided at least three (3) letters of recommendation.

 

Position Status: Full-time, non-exempt

 

Salary Range: Salary determined based on Doctorate/MD receipt date according to a set salary schedule, which begins at $42,000 up to a maximum of $50,000.
