Postdoctoral Fellowship at Lund University Diabetes Center : Lund, Sweden

Postdoctoral fellowship at Lund University Diabetes Center
A postdoctoral fellowship is available at Lund University, Sweden, for studies on membrane bound zinc transporters related to diabetes risk. The project will involve studies on intracellular trafficking, function and interaction of zinc transporter 8 (ZnT8), which is implicated in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes

The research laboratory (PI Dr Jens Lagerstedt) is located to the Biomedical center in Lund and is part of Lund University Diabetes Centre (www.ludc.med.lu.se), which is one of the largest diabetes centers in the world. Research areas at the center encompass cell biology, cell physiology and genetics of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

To qualify for fellowship the applicant must have a PhD degree in a relevant discipline such as the life sciences, medicine, biotechnology or similar. Particular importance is given to scientific excellence and motivation. Extensive knowledge in molecular and cell biology is required, as is extensive experience in cell imaging. Candidates with prior experience in studying islet cell biology in diabetes are particularly encouraged to apply. Duration of fellowship is 18 months with possibility for extension. Planned start is summer 2014, or as agreed on.

Interested applicants should email cover letter with research interests, CV, and contact information to three academic references (and preferably recommendation letters) to Dr. Jens Lagerstedt at jens.lagerstedt@med.lu.se. Review of applications starts immediately.
