摘要:

Postdoctoral Scientist : Madrid, Spain

Open position at the “Single-molecule mechanobiochemistry” laboratory at CNIC, Madrid

We are looking for an experienced postdoctoral scientist to join the “Single-molecule mechanobiochemistry“ laboratory led by Jorge Alegre-Cebollada at the National Institute for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) in Madrid, Spain. The position will be available from July 2014 and will extend for 5 years. Our laboratory studies the role of elastic proteins in the development of cardiac disease, by combining the latest single-molecule manipulation techniques by Atomic Force Microscopy, and protein biochemistry techniques such as mass-spectrometry. The successful candidate will lead the identification and mechanical characterization of posttranslational modifications that control the elasticity of heart muscle. He/she will also participate in supervising students and technical staff, and will be involved in preparation of grant proposals. The CNIC offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, together with the possibility to attend career development activities.

Only candidates holding a PhD in Biochemistry or a similar discipline, with at least 4 years of postdoctoral experience, will be considered. Additional requirements are summarized below:

•extensive experience in recombinant protein production, purification and biochemical characterization.
•extensive experience in single-molecule manipulation techniques (force-spectroscopy).
•strong track record of publications in international journals, including several publications as 1st author.
•experience in high-resolution microscopy techniques will be positively considered.

Applications should be sent to jalegre@cnic.es and will include a cover letter, a CV and the e-mail addresses of 3 potential references.

Deadline for proposal presentation: May 15th, 2014
