Grade 7: £29,837- £36,661 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in quantum information theory.

The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 24 months.

The post will develop theoretical approaches to quantum-enhanced sensing and information processing. The focus will be to work on the theory of estimating multiple parameters simultaneously and the study of quantum information processing protocols in both continuous and discrete variable domains.

The successful candidate will co-supervise graduate students, work with other PDRAs in the quantum information science group of Dr Animesh Datta, and collaborate with experimental groups in Oxford and elsewhere. The successful applicant will be responsible for defining, developing and executing research directed toward the attainment of quantum enhancements in communication and sensing in the real world using methods of quantum optics and quantum information theory, as well as be involved in key decisions on research directions and research responsibilities.

Applicants should possess, or be very close to obtaining a doctorate in physics or a related field and ideally a strong background in quantum optics and quantum information theory. Candidates are expected to demonstrate knowledge of the theory of quantum metrology and the mathematical techniques of quantum information theory.

The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.
