Grade 7: £29,837 - £36,661 p.a.

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position, funded by the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) to work with Professor Doyne Farmer at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This is a fixed-term position for up to 1 year and is available from 1 May 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research in developing an agent-based model of the housing market under the guidance of the principal investigator and other senior staff. The project involves analysis of large data sets to calibrate models, as well as programming to develop the model itself. They may also be required to teach some sets of undergraduate or graduate classes. 

Applicants should have a doctorate in economics, particularly computational, real estate, environmental and agricultural economics. Strong software engineering skills e.g. Java, C and Matlab and experience with object oriented programming and calibration of agent-based models to real data.
