摘要:

Postdoctoral Researcher - Structural biology

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology

Cambridge UK
Starting Salary £27,454 - £30,184
Band Salary £26,565 - £32,003

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in structural biology (preferably electron microscopy) to join Dr Lori Passmore’s group. The group aims to characterise the structure and function of macromolecular machines involved in mRNA polyadenylation and deadenylation. Members of the team use a hybrid approach including electron microscopy, x-ray crystallography, yeast genetics and biochemistry. This project will follow on from our recent advances in sample preparation, functional studies, and technical developments (see Schreieck et al 2014 Nat Struct Mol Biol; and Russo & Passmore, Nat Methods in press) including recent advances in EM.

The ideal candidate will be expected to apply molecular, biochemical and structural methods to understand how mRNA polyA tails are regulated. He/she will be capable of developing new methods and will be able to work across multiple disciplines. A desire to work on a challenging and rewarding project as part of a team is essential.

The successful applicant will be awarded an MRC Career Development Fellowship, which is a three year training and development position for a postdoctoral scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies or is moving into a new research discipline.

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is one of the birthplaces of molecular biology. The LMB houses around 350 scientists and is located in the beautiful city of Cambridge, UK, around 60 miles north of London.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Lori Passmore (passmore@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk) or visit http://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/groups/passmore/Home.html for more information.
